OVERVIEW
The Cairns Airport required the full refurbishment of one of their floors which was approximately 1300m2.
The offices were completely demolished and refit as part of the scope of works.
The project was required to accommodate the relocation of a number of different airport departments into one central location.
The office fitout comprised a full electrical and mechanical refit along with a new modern room layout, offices, recreation rooms, staff work areas, flooring and joinery.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
- This project was completed in a short timeframe of only 12 weeks and required a large number of subcontractors to complete the work successfully. Safety and security requirements were also critical to the success of the project given the proximity to an operating airport facility. WIP subcontractors also needed to work weekend and night shift to ensure the critical practical completion date was met.
- The project was completed successfully on time and allowed the transfer of staff the week before the Christmas break. The client was happy with the project outcomes, the workmanship and how WIP handled the compressed program timeframe with all the challenges associated with working in an airport environment.
