OVERVIEW
WIP Construction was engaged by Queensland Health to deliver a high-rise commercial office fit-out and ICT infrastructure upgrade at the Queensland Health – eHealth Data Centre in Cairns.
The project encompassed the demolition and disposal of existing fit-out, construction of a new fit-out, and the supply and installation of furniture. Additionally, WIP replaced two chillers and four Computer Room Air Conditioners (CRAC), ensuring a modernised and efficient ICT infrastructure.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
- Difficulties The project faced challenges working within live office environments, necessitating careful planning to minimise disruptions to other tenants during the course of construction. Concurrently, maintaining the eHealth Data Centre’s continuous operation demanded meticulous redundancy planning to prevent any service interruptions. WIP Construction successfully navigated these complexities through strategic scheduling, noise and dust control measures, and stringent safety protocols. Close collaboration with stakeholders ensured a seamless workflow, addressing issues promptly.
- Outcomes Despite the intricacies, the project was delivered successfully, meeting operational requirements for both office spaces and the critical Data Centre infrastructure.
