PROJECT TYPE

SCOPE OF WORKS
New Build, Warehouse Construction
CONTRACT
Construct Only
Client
Tobin Property Partnership
VALUE
$5.4 Million
OVERVIEW
This project was completed for Tobin Property Partnership on behalf of Followmont Transport for a new Cairns Transport Depot to service the expanding freight & logistic services for Far North Queensland.
A new concrete tilt slab and structural steel shed of over 2000m2 with surrounding hardpan, loading docks and delivery system was constructed to cater for the rapidly expanding business.
New offices and staff facilities were integral to the build.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
- Poor ground conditions required iterative soil testing to meet standard weight bearing, which were overcome with assistance from both our engaged engineer and soil consultants. Quality control for consistent slab finishes was also difficult, requiring careful timing of the pours, communication with suppliers and finishers to get the required result. No re-pours were required due to our diligence.
- The project was completed in accordance with the program and to the great satisfaction of the client and business owners. The depot has increased the capacity of the business threefold, with room for more growth. Efficiency has increased, with expanded warehousing, sorting area and streamlined loading and unloading facilities. The staff also benefit from new state of the art facilities and well organised offices.
