Overview

Trinity Anglican School – Kewarra Beach Campus is going through a period of rapid growth, WIP were enlisted by the school to provide expanded school facilities in the form of an Early Learning Centre.

TAS tasked WIP with providing the building in a short time frame that included the concept design, design development and construction in just 28 weeks.

Having close relationships with designers, sub contractors and local suppliers, WIP were able to take on the challenge and begin the process with confidence, in the time frame requested by the client.

Project Highlights

  • In collaboration with local Architectural firm, ZAP Creative, WIP were able to begin the concept design process immediately and were able to get a swift turnaround to get design development started. Whilst the design was taking shape, WIP had begun an early works package to get the site ready for the new facility.
  • Due to the nature of the building and the onerous regulations that had to be followed, WIP were able to quickly engage a local Certifier that helped the building team and Architect produce a resolved design that met all the required standards and regulations for the class of the building. Getting these items correct early was a key item that WIP needed to deliver to ensure that as much time was given to the construction period as possible.
  • During the construction period, the client requested that WIP increase the size of the scope. Firstly, the electrical services were upgraded campus wide. This required WIP to design, program and deliver the electrical upgrade to the school without disturbing operations, which was done during school holidays. Secondly, WIP were asked to increase the external play areas and delivery a Nature Play area for the Early Learning Centre. All of which was delivered within the already tight program and required end date.
